I'm a longtime listener to Bill Simmons's B.S. Report podcasts — and as such, have always liked his occasional visits from Kevin Wildes, who presents his "half-baked ideas." The idea, as Simmons points out is that "these aren't good ideas … they're half of a good idea. It's an important distinction."
Along these lines, I present you with three original half-baked ideas, herewith:
I believe part of the problem is that the name itself is a misnomer. Miniature golf is not a smaller version of golf. It is a kids' putting game with obstacles.
Well, throw your putters to the wind, folks, because now there's MAXI-Golf!
And MAXI-Golf is a maximized version of miniature golf, mixed with the dynamics of regular golf. Imagine life-size obstacles (a turning Dutch-style windmill, say, or real boulders the size of houses) standing in the way of your drive on a 365-yard par four.
That is Maxi-Golf, baby!
It's like playing the old course at St. Andrews, but not for tipsy Scots in plus fours. So sign a waiver, buy a golf helmet, grab your bag, and cowboy up!
What if you could sign up for, and schedule — via easy-to-use web interface — wake up calls at whatever location you find yourself sleeping on a given night?
Said calls could be sent to your mobile, or any nearby landline phone.
A new reality TV competition show, a la Fear Factor and The Amazing Race. But the suckers contestants here are neither fighting to overcome their greatest fears nor complete a set of insane travel-related tasks more quickly than their fellow contestants. No. The conceit here, each episode, is one of true human endurance — outlasting your cohorts in your ability to simply stay awake.
Offers will be made: the most comfortable beds, pillows, sheets imaginable. Hot showers, warm milk, oral sex, Ben Stein lecturing in a darkened classroom, and all manner of sleep-inducing activities. You can drop out at any time and get that well-needed rest. It's just that if you do, someone else will win the game; the prize money; and, perhaps, an even better night's sleep (eventually)!
